Doug Bergmann of Edmonton, Alberta had the cannonballs to compete ... and came up the big winner at the 2008 Trident Splash* National Cannonball Championships held in Toronto on August 13 beating our reigning champ Brian Utley, the Hurtin' Albertan!

Up against one of the fiercest line ups yet, Doug beat out 9 other 'ballers from across the country, winning $2,000 and the bragging rights that come with being named Canada's newest cannonball champion. Brian Utley was runner up and Gary Heald a close third!

Equipped with full costumes and elaborate 'balling routines carefully choreographed to music, competitors showed off their athletic agility and cannonballing finesse in the most competitive field yet.
